Richard E. Rominger (Rice Farmer, U.S. Government Agriculture Policy Specialist)
Mr. Rominger has government extensive policy experience concerning agricultural, having spent eight years in Washington, D.C. as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Agriculture, and six years as the California Secretary of Food and Agriculture. He has served on many government policy boards.
Mr. Rominger has also served as a consultant and the lead on a four-university partnership to address the needs of California's $30 billion agriculture industry. The partnership includes U.C. Davis, U.C. Riverside, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and California State University, Fresno. Among other activities, he currently serves on the University of California President's Advisory Commission on Agriculture and Natural Resources, the advisory board of the new Agricultural Sustainability Institute at U.C. Davis, the Roots of Change Council, and the boards of directors of the American Farmland Trust and Marrone Organic Innovations, a company discovering and developing natural products for weed and pest management needs.
As a lifetime farmer of rice and other crops, Mr. Rominger understands the challenges facing farmers today and recognizes the urgency to create new markets for growers. Mr. Rominger provides regulatory insights and guidance and serves as an interface with government regulators on behalf of Oryzatech.
